How to Keep Your House From Smelling Like Dogs

Your dog is undeniably proud of its scent. It’s their identity, their mark on the world. However, having your house smell like your dog is not something anyone wants!

There are tons of ways to get rid of that dog smell in your house. Reference our deep cleaning guide below for the best practices to freshen up your puppy palace.

1.Natural ventilation

Open the windows any time it is feasible. There is nothing like God-given natural fresh air to get rid of the dog smell. Pulling fresh air from outside helps to throw out the warm and dirty air.

2.Keep the floor clean

The very first thing you need to do when trying to make your home smell better is to remove all of the loose debris your pet creates including hair and the dirt they drag inside, and their dander.

Once you’ve swept everything, mop all of the hard surfaces with a pet-safe floor cleaner to remove any of the dust and debris you missed while sweeping.

3.Add dog-safe indoor air-purifying plants

If you have a green thumb, then adding plants to your home is a great option for keeping the air in your home fresh and healthy.

Some great plant options include: English Ivy, Bamboo Palm, Chinese Evergreen, Snake Plant, Aloe Vera, Peace Lily, Spider Plant, Mass Cane. Just remember to keep your dog away from the plants, as some can be poisonous.

4.Wash the dog collar and their bedding regularly

If your dog wears a collar all the time, it will eventually stink. Wash it when you give your dog a bath. Most dog collars can be thrown into the washing machine too, add it with their towels or their bedding.

5.Keep the dog areas clean

Some fur babies tend to walk on various surfaces.  Whether you permit your pet on the counter or constantly battle them to stay off, they still manage to leave their paw prints all over them. Wipe those off with a pet-friendly All surface cleaner.

6.Vacuum your couches, beds and rugs regularly

Shampoo wash them at least once in three months to get rid of the damp musty smell. If the covers of the cushions can be taken off then that's the best way to get them washed.

The dilemma of wanting a clean household to live in but not wanting to harm nature and your pet persists. Remember, there is nothing like a fresh smelling and clean and healthy home. And while cleaning, remember that as much as cleaning matters, how you clean matters too! Opt for pet friendly and eco-friendly cleaners.
