Five tips for cleaning fruits and vegetables

Vegetables and fruits are the bounties in health care. But greens and fodder are not healthy if consumed without proper measures.

Now, what is making them lose their remarkable strength? It all accounts for the pesticides and ripening chemicals used for their growth. This signifies how perfectly one has to wash the greens and fodders to remove bacteria, viruses and chemicals.

There are better methods, which are highly approved, to retain the best qualities of your greens instead of harming them. Check out these five viable tips for properly cleaning fruits and vegetables.

1.Rinse and wash with cold water to clean up the dirt, chemicals, and bacteria.

The foremost and easy washing technique for your veggies and fruits is the cold water wash. The brisk temperature of the cold water would do the job in clearing dirt, chemicals as well as bacteria. The shiny wax usually used to glitter up the fruits is also removed using cold water along with other chemicals.

It is observed that rinsing in cold water and washing later has an efficiency of about 75-80% in swabbing off the chemicals. For more coherent and effective wash, scrub the greens gently after the rinse. By using cold water you can cleanse away chemicals and viruses potentially!

2.A salt infusion can be best utilized for disinfecting the vegetables and fruits

Two tablespoons of salt mixed with 3 to 4 cups of lukewarm water would be a perfect bath solution for your vegetables. This method is one of the old traditions used for cleaning vegetables, especially leafy vegetables. Once the whole salt dissolves in the water, you can rinse vegetables and fruits in the solution for about 20-30 minutes. Later wash the items with fresh water before cutting them for the purpose.

Yet again, all the vegetables and fruits cannot be washed with the salt infusion. The tender beings like berries and kiwis cannot be subjected to saltwater. Instead, the above mentioned cold water wash would do!

3.Use fine turmeric solution to eliminate harmful bacteria off your greens

It is no secret about the antiseptic values that turmeric contains. Its tremendous advantages have made it an essential ingredient since ancient times. The abundant amounts of antioxidant curcumin in it disinfects the innards and kills the harmful microorganisms present on them.

Add a tablespoon of turmeric in 3-4 glasses of lukewarm water. Stir the solution till the powder is completely dissolved and soak the vegetables and fruits. Subsequently wash them thoroughly with fresh water to remove the sediments of turmeric powder. For pesticide removal, ionized water is great.

4.Remove pesticides & germs together with the help of vinegar mixture

Add about half a cup of Vinegar to 2-3 glasses of water. This vinegar mixed water solution serves as the best disinfectant solution for cleaning your veggies. White vinegar kills the potential bacteria and removes the pesticides. It is recommended for both disinfecting and cleaning purposes.

5.Prepare a homemade vegetable spray with lemon & baking soda for every time cleaning usage.

Baking soda may act as a disinfectant when mixed with lemon. The duo performs a great deal in cleaning your vegetables free from pesticides. Dissolve 1-2 spoons of baking soda in lemon juice and dilute the solution with abundant amounts of water.

The diluted solution can be stored in a spray bottle and be used as a vegetable cleaning spray. The vegetable spray can be applied to the fruits as well. Just let the solution sit on their surface for 10-15 minutes before washing away with water.

Natural methods are much encouraged to have safe and clean greens. Also, never moist the vegetables or fruits before the consumption as the wet provides optimum conditions for bacterial growth. Follow any of the above mentioned right before your utilization.
